Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

1. Overview

The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is now a 7 day blended learning program comprising of interactive training workshops and online learning. There are fourteen units of competency necessary to gain this qualification, including 12 core units and 2 electives.

To ensure participants successfully achieve all units of competency, Customer Contact Solutions has designed a stimulating and well paced training program that is delivered in four key sessions:

  • Session 1 Fundamentals of Workplace Training - 3 units (1 day workshop)
  • Session 2 Learning Design - 3 units (2 day workshop)
  • Session 3 Delivery and Facilitation (Train the Trainer) - 4 units (2 day workshop)
  • Session 4 Assessing Competency Based Training - 4 units (2 day workshop).

Participants are able to complete the four sessions in any order however it is recommended that participants complete:

  • Fundamentals of Workplace Training (ENV) units before Assessing Competency based Training (ASS) training; and
  • The Learning Design (DES) units before the Delivery and Facilitation (DEL) (Train the Trainer) training.

Our program format and course mentors will ensure that you have the best possible opportunity to successfully complete this qualification. We provide highly experienced trainers on each program and limited numbers of participants to maximise learning. Trainers are available to provide assistance outside of these times if required.

Course Fees

1. $1450 full course enrolment (paid in one payment) including morning and afternoon tea, lunch; all workbook materials and assessments, and ongoing tutorial support.
2. $1250 - self-paced - includes all workbook materials and assessments and one on one tutor support.
3. $850 - Recognition of prior learning/current competencies (RPL/RCC) - includes RPL/RCC kit and TAA40104 Kit plus one on one tutor support.

2. Format of the Qualification

Participants are required to attend 4 workshops which comprise of Fundamentals of Workplace Training, Learning Design, Delivery and Facilitation and Assessing competency Based Training.

Workshop 1: Fundamentals of Workplace Training
(Learning Environment) [1 days]

This workshop is designed to address the national competency standards to work effectively in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system, to foster and promote an inclusive learning culture, and to ensure a healthy and safe learning environment. This workshop is structured around various case studies and workshop activities which presents participants with a working knowledge of the use of VET in organisations.

The learning outcomes provide the National Competency Standards for:

TAAENV402B Foster and promote an inclusive learning culture This unit specifies the competency required to foster and promote an environment which supports inclusive work practices and learning culture

Workshop 2: Learning Design

The learning design units address competence in both the design of learning products and the design of the learning program. The workshop will provide participants with the foundation skills and knowledge for designing competency based training to meet client’s needs. You will learn how to unpack and use training packages for different purposes as well as design, develop, plan and evaluate learning programs to meet your learner’s needs and organisational requirements.

The learning outcomes provide the National Competency Standards for:

TAADES401B Use training packages to meet client needs This unit specifies the competency required to use Training Packages and accredited courses as a tool to support industry, organisation or individual competency development needs
TAADES402B Design and develop learning programs This unit specifies the competency required to conceptualise, design, develop and evaluate learning programs to meet an identified need for a group of learners, using appropriate criteria including endorsed competency standards and other specifications such as organisational performance standards, product equipment specifications and workplace procedures
TAADEL401B Plan and organise group based delivery This unit specifies the competency required to plan and organise training for individuals within a group

Workshop 3: Deliver and Facilitation (Train the Trainer)

This program is designed to provide trainers with the key skills and knowledge to present effective and interactive training sessions, focusing on four areas - individual facilitation, group facilitation, work-based facilitation and provide effective instruction and demonstration. With a very practical “how to” approach, this course is based on learning the theory behind great training with a series of presentations to the group by each participant.

The focus of the program is on training delivery and as such, the program is structured around practical sessions which aim to develop the key competencies of participants.

This workshop is designed for both experienced trainers and trainers with limited or no experience, supervisors and line managers, and those individuals who would like to deliver effective training sessions.

Workshop 4: Assessing Competency Based Training

This workshop provides participants with an overview of how competency based assessments align with the training framework in Australia. By the conclusion of this program participants will develop the knowledge and skills to confidently plan, organise, conduct and validate assessment tools and interpret Training Packages and units of competency.

3. Recognition of prior learning and experience

Any relevant courses and experience will be matched against all of the elements of competency and performance criteria for each unit, and credit given for those elements and standards already achieved. Evidence of competency can be certificates, examples of work, statements from employers/managers or verbal explanations. Recognition of prior learning for the full course will be subject to a fee of $850.

One delivery plan to address the whole or substantial part of a learning program with a series of session plans and evidence of contextualization of learning activities, the development of relevant learning materials and documentation of requirements for training delivery.Documentation on a minimum of two individual learning relationships involving the following: how the need was determined; what techniques were used and why; a plan for the learning relationship; individual session plans; evaluation of the relationship.Documentation of a minimum of two examples of developing a work-based learning pathway including how needs were identified; work practices, work environment and activities were analysed; and how work was organised and allocated to meet learning needs.

Assessments to include RPL, application of reasonable adjustment, use of different assessment methods and tools, demonstration of two-way feedback, completion of records and review of the assessment process.Developing and trialling of new assessment tools that support assessment methods that address at least three units of competency at different levels of the AQF. Evidence of review and feedback from appropriate personnel and documentation on the tools and procedures to be included.

Documenting participation in two assessment validation sessions aimed at validating the assessment process including legal and ethical responsibilities. Evidence of communications, liaison and recording of feedback to be provided.
