Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – UPGRADE

1. Overview

In 2010 the new TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification was introduced. It has now become a much more streamlined, “user friendly” qualification for workplace trainers to upgrade to.

The upgrade program has been designed for people working at all levels in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector who now wish to update their qualifications to the new TAE40110.

To ensure existing trainers successfully achieve the required competencies for the qualification, Customer Contact Solutions has designed a cost efficient and streamlined process that will make upgrading to the new qualification a relatively straightforward process.

2. Format of the Qualification

The new TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment comprises of 10 units of which 7 are core units and 3 are electives.

Existing holders of BSZ40198 will be required to complete 3 specific units and provide supplementary evidence for 1 unit in order to upgrade to the new TAE qualification.

The units for completion include:

  • TAEDES402A – Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs
  •  TAEDEL402A – Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace
  • TAEASS403A – Participate in assessment validation

Supplementary evidence in the form of documentation as evidence of conducting work skills instruction on 3 separate occasions will be required for TAEDEL301A Provide work skills instruction (see section 4).

Fees

Our standard fees for TAE40110 Upgrade are as follows

  1. $550 – self-paced – includes all workbook materials and assessments and one on one tutor support.
  2. $395 – Recognition of prior learning/current competencies (RPL/RCC) – includes RPL/RCC kit and TAA40104 Kit plus one on one tutor support.

In-house programs can be tailored to suit client’s specific operational needs and time-frames and will attract group discounts for such programs

4. Required Competencies

Existing holders of BSZ40198 will be required to complete 3 specific units and provide supplementary evidence for 1 unit in order to upgrade to the new TAE qualification. Details regarding specific unit requirements are listed as follows:

Cluster 1: Learning Design (DES) – 1 unit

The learning design unit address competence in use training packages for different purposes to meet the learner’s needs and organisational requirements.

Key Content:

  1. Understanding the key components of a training package
  2. Analysing and interpreting the qualifications framework
  3. Analysing and interpreting units of competency
  4. Contextualising competency units for client applications
  5. Analysing and interpreting assessment guidance

The learning outcomes incorporate the required skills and knowledge for the following units of competency:

TAEDES402A Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to use training packages and accredited courses as tools to support industry, organisation and individual competency development needs.

This unit is structured around various case studies and workshop activities which presents participants with a working knowledge of the use of VET in organisations.

Cluster 2: Delivery and Facilitation (DEL) – 1 unit

The delivery and facilitation units are designed to address the competence required to deliver training and facilitate learning.

TAEDEL402A Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace is designed to develop the necessary skills and knowledge required to plan, organise and facilitate learning pathways within the workplace.

Key Content:

  1. How to establish an effective work environment for learning
  2. Developing and implementing work based learning pathways
  3. Establishing and maintaining the learning-facilitation relationship
  4. Monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of the work based learning pathways

The learning outcomes incorporate the required skills and knowledge for the following units of competency:

TAEDEL402A Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to plan, organise and facilitate learning for individuals within a workplace.

Cluster 3: Assessment (ASS) – 1 unit

This cluster provides participants with the essential skills and knowledge to confidently plan, organise, conduct and validate assessment processes. 

Key Content:

  1. Prepare for validation
  2. Contribute to the validation process
  3. Contribute to validation outcomes

The learning outcomes incorporate the required skills and knowledge for the following units of competency:

 

TAEASS403A Participate in assessment validation This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to participate in an assessment validation process.

5. Additional requirements – recognition of current competency for BSZ40198 

In order to gain credit for TAEDEL301A Provide work skills instruction – candidates will need to provide supplementary evidence of having carried out a minimum of 3 training sessions involving demonstrating and instructing particular work skills for different groups with each session addressing different learning objectives and a range of techniques. 

5. Recognition of prior learning and experience 

Any relevant courses and experience will be matched against all of the elements of competency and performance criteria for each unit, and credit given for those elements and standards already achieved. Evidence of competency can be certificates, examples of work, statements from employers/managers or verbal explanations.  Recognition of prior learning for the upgrade course will be subject to a fee of $395.00.
